Cook & Eat – the privilege of partnership

Here are some snaps from the pilot cook & eat programme we started last week at Everyday Kingston, with special thanks to the guys who let us take & publish their pics!

Cook & Eat is a nationally promoted course which teaches people from all walks of life about the benefits of healthy eating. We’re privileged to have been trusted to deliver the course to a small group of young people over the next few weeks…

Sponsored by Kingston’s Public Health team and with a view to serving young people who are supported by Kingston’s Leaving Care team, we’ve pulled together a small Everyday Church team to work with a hugely likeable group of teenagers from Albania and Eritrea for 6 Saturday sessions… The course is a pilot and marks one of our church’s first formal agreements with partners from the health authority and a local council department: all three partners (Public Health, the Leaving Care team & Everyday Kingston) will use the pilot to review the feasibility of us running the course several times throughout the year.

While there’s no more space for volunteers on the pilot team (which happily includes a team member from Everyday Wimbledon!), you can partner with us by praying for the course, the participants and our partners in Public Health and the Leaving Care team – we definitely want the course to be successful for the current participants but we really need wisdom to know whether this is something we should run again throughout the year…

Everyday Kingston team members trial a bean burger recipe as part of a 2-day training course provided by Public Health while trainer & nutritionist Karen looks on…
