About PACT: Prisons update by Adam Bream, Southfields venue

Over recent months, we have been feeling the call from God
to make a response to the issue of how we serve prisoners and their families in
London. I have been exploring the different initiatives already in
place to establish what partnering opportunities might be available and
recently met with Dan McNamara, who works for PACT – the Prison Advice and Care
Trust (www.prisonadvice.org.uk). PACT wonderfully mobilise people, driven by
their faith in God, to serve those who are affected by imprisonment – both
those inside and outside of the prison system.
PACT have numerous ways that churches and individuals
can get involved to make a practical impact on the lives of whole families and
also those who are dealing alone with release, resettlement and rehabilitation.
PACT’s first core value is this: To
respect the innate dignity and worth of every human being, and in the possibility
of their rehabilitation and redemption, no matter what they have done.
That’s
quite a sobering attitude, particularly considering how the majority of
Londoners would wish to distance themselves from these circumstances.
Please join me in praying for the right doors to open
and that we’d model something of a 1
Peter 3 mindset as we make decisions on how to establish our response and
ongoing support.
Finally,
all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender
heart, and a humble mind. (1 Peter 3 v8)

If you’re interested
in joining a team in the near future, that offers support to those affected by
imprisonment, please email

as well, which offers a helpful overview:
