Four Reasons to Take a Detox from Porn

Sex and Sexuality #5 – Four Reasons to Take a Detox from Porn

If you missed the second instalment of our Sex and Sexuality series at Everyday Church yesterday then you can catch up by watching the video below. Having looked at the glory of sex and sexuality in week one, we turned our attention in week two to all the misery that is caused by sex and sexuality. We asked how something so beautiful can have become so messed up in so many ways. We asked ourselves the frank question: How did this become that?

This second message in the series has already provoked a lot of discussion. Most of it has been around what I taught from the Bible on pornography and masturbation. I’d love it if you could take a look at these four reasons to take a detox from porn and then tell us what you think. Do you agree or disagree with what I say in this message?

If you find these four reasons compelling, then really I’d like to help you over the next few days. Tomorrow we’ll link to an excellent TED talk that explores this theme further. On Wednesday, I will give you five powerful ways in which you can turn desire into practice and break free from watching porn. On Thursday, I’ll then look at some of the deeper motivators at work behind our sex-obsessed culture. Then on Friday, we’ll have a guest blog from Andrew Bunt in preparation for his visit to Everyday Church on Sunday to deliver the third message in our Sex and Sexuality series, looking particularly at the areas of singleness and same-sex attraction.

In the meantime, keep your comments coming. It’s a real privilege to be able to explore these subjects with you
