Walking on water

“God loves with a great love the man whose heart is bursting with a passion for the impossible.” William Booth

Christianity – true Christianity – makes claims about its followers which are both extraordinary and majestic: it says that if you choose to believe in Jesus Christ, to trust in his death and resurrection and follow him then you will be brought into a daily relationship with the creator of all things; true Christianity makes the claim that you can not only know about God, but that you can know him for yourself, hear his voice, know his heart and enjoy his love, his power and his presence. True Christianity says that we can enjoy this incredible life for ourselves and bring its transforming power and influence to bear on the people and communities around us…

These claims have huge implications for how we as Christians view and respond to any social problems and injustices around us; when you believe yourself to be the richest of all people then it becomes impossible to ignore injustice and need in the lives of others. Even better than that challenge though is the certain promise of great joy and hope fulfilled as we bring the needs of those around us to our Father in heaven and ask him to show us exactly what he would have us do to bring about real and lasting change.

God has great plans to use his church to reveal and extend his kingdom on earth in these days. In the weeks and months to come we’ll be using this blog to highlight some of the key issues affecting people in this nation and around the world while also documenting some of the ways in which God is leading us in Everyday Church to make a difference in the south west London communities we’re a part of. We’re not looking to develop human-powered remedial works, but we’re instead praying and seeking his wisdom and power for miraculous life & society changing works which will demonstrate his love, reveal his kingdom and bring glory to the name of Jesus – in the face of tremendous need we need to remember that with God all things are possible…

2 Habakkuk 3:2 – Lord, I have heard of your fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy.
