“When you have finished translating and when our children read this, then this town will understand the truth and will change!” – A ‘Flame’ imam
In May 2021 we took up a special offering. We had the privilege of giving £35,000 to Wycliffe Bible Translators to support their on-going work to translate the Old Testament into the language of the ‘Flame People’.
This incredible group, named the ‘Flame People’ for security reasons, represents around 500,000 people in West Africa.
The New Testament has been completed in the ‘Flame’ language. As a result, there are now some ‘Flame’ believers who are beginning to gather for discipleship. But now we thank God that he has begun to use the money we gave to equip local translators to bring the Old Testament into the ‘Flame’ language also.
Over 99% of ‘Flame’ speakers are Muslims and the language is used for business and trade by several surrounding Muslim groups, making it the most widely spoken language in the region.
We stand with Wycliffe Bible Translators in their vision that ‘Flame’ Muslims and the surrounding groups will read God’s word and turn to Christ as their saviour.
For more specific detail on the project, more ways to pray and for plenty more reasons to praise God, head to the Wycliffe Bible Translators website for regular updates.
We pray these updates continue to inspire our generosity and an international Kingdom mindset.
Lets pray for God’s blessing to be upon this wonderful project.
